This is quite a unique venue; bang in the West End, it appears (to this non-Hispanophile) be every bit as authentically Spanish as its name might suggest, perhaps with the principal exception that no Tapas is served. There are two bars: a tiny bar at ground level, where there is a a vinyl jukebox with a grand selection of (Anglophone) tunes from the 50s to the 90s and a (slightly) larger, cavern-like bar downstairs. There are a lot of Iberian knickknacks all around, Spanish magazines available, and a wide range of lagers from that country and others. It is a bit expensive, and at times rather too crowded for comfort, largely because of its miniscule scale. None the less, it's charming enough, and there's a mixed range of regulars both Spanish and English-speaking; given its location - highly visible from (the scummy end of) Oxford Street - other passers-by and tourists are liable to drop in too. We heard a slightly inebriated chap enter and announce loudly to all around that he was 'going out on the pull tonight'. We've no idea how successful he was, or if he was welcomed here, but it's not a bad place, and an institution of a kind.

What Ive always liked about this bar is its 'earthy' feel, really cool vinyl jukebox and great atmosphere, cool staff and Ive made a point of going here with freinds on and off for years. Unfortunately, as of my last visit, the bar staff have become grandiose and way too cool for their own good to the point where they treat customers with contempt. Admittedly, there was only one total wally who shouted at customers and frankly acted like a complete tosser but he recieved no sanction from the other bar persons who generally encouraged his lude and crass behaviour. A great bar gone sour!!
