The second-closest pub to Theydon Bois tube station, this large, charming looking pub seems to be the most popular of the four available. Throughout the pub the atmosphere changes, from the football watching fellas on the left, through to the diners and families over to the right - everyone seems to co-exist happily enough, if not exactly together, at least side by side. Service was a bit terse, but the selection of ales is good and the food looked fine (even if 4pm on a Sunday was too late to enjoy it ourselves). We always get wary when pubs need a ("smart-casual") dress code and an over 21's age policy, as it usually means annoying, badly dressed teenagers trying to make their way here, but we didn't see any such issue on our visit. Theydon has a fair mini-pub crawl on it's hands and although the Bull isn't outstanding in any way, it is competent in most.
