Named after a prominent local cricketer this boozer, which is next to the historic cricket pavilion, is big enough for several teams. Even when half empty, as it was during our visit, it can be noisier than many a county match. Too noisy in fact. It was partly the kids, partly the grown ups arguing, but the main culprit was the blare from the big screen TV. (The grown ups were arguing about what to watch). The service was a bit slow and begrudging, but on the plus side they did a tasty pint of Adnam's.
