The Camden Head is an attractive, ornate and well preserved Victorian pub tucked away amongst the antiques shops of Islington and has been thoroughly reliable for as long as we can remember. There are a couple of ales on tap, some average pub fare food and a good mix of punters. It's also a pub well known for the comedy nights it hosts upstairs on numerous days of the week. One of the first to do the 'pub comedy' thing - (aka the Mojo Club), the quality can be variable, but choose the right acts on the right night and its still great. With a late licence on weekends, it can also provide a good place for a last couple of late night drinks as an alternative to some other (louder) nearby venues. While a lot of pubs in the area are losing their heads in the quest for a more upmarket demographic, this one still manages to stay keep its own.

How to find the Camden Head pub

Leave the Angel and go up towards Upper Street (north). Just past the traffic lights at the junction with Liverpool Road, past the bus stops on the right of Upper Street you'll see a narrow road, leading to an alleyway. Go up the alleyway (Camden Passage) past the overpriced antique shops and you'll soon come to the pub.
