Canton Arms, Stockwell
FancyaPint?'s review...
A recent refit has left the Canton Arms with the bare bones of gastrodom. We're now talking exposed floorboards, small stools and tables and a diner/drinker divide that now splits the pub in two. On the plus side, there are four ales on tap (including O'Hanlon's Stout and St Austell Tribute when we were last in), but we just wish there was a bit more space to stretch out in to enjoy them. As things were on our visit, the 'drink' half of the pub was full and the 'dining' section - with tables set - empty. It's not so bad if you're after a quiet afternoon pint, but it can get a bit crowded of an evening. The butcher apron'd staff are a friendly bunch and we can't fault the service. It's still fairly early days and we'll keep an eye on it and see how it goes.
