Cat & The Canary, Poplar
FancyaPint?'s review...
We were pretty scathing about the place last time we were here - the service was diabolical, bordering on the plain rude and that, thankfully, has changed. But it's still a disappointing place, having the air of a provincial pedestrian precinct pub, rather than a sophisticated urban drinkerie of the sort you'd expect for the area. It's hard to say exactly why it feels like this, after all the beer is pretty good - it's Fuller's, but we'd guess it's something to do with the huge number of gaming machines, the clamourous clientele and the tacky air of the place. It's one of the oldest pubs on the wharf and it seems always to have been like this, maybe it's just one of life's constants. Anyway given the location and its owners we feel the Cat and the Canary could be so much better - please Fuller's, do something about it.

How to find the Cat & The Canary pub
From the DLR station, head towards Cabot Square. Once there, with your back towards the tower, turn right and go down the steps towards the bridge which crosses to West India Quay. The pub is on your right just before you get to the bridge.
