Central Bar, Barbican
our final review

This pub was full of wannabes and pissed office workers when we got there a couple hours before closing time. The live music (DJ) was loud enough to preclude casual conversation, but the beer was wet. Once known as the "Vertical Refreshment Company or other" by my drinking colleagues, it seems to have been infected with the same bar-trendy crowd that have invaded once-respectable pubs in nearby Shoreditch and Hoxton. Better bars in the area, only go here if you're desperate and can't make it across the road.
It became a club of some sort and now we're not sure even if that's open.

This pub is no longer open, but that doesn't mean we're not interested in it any more. It might be something about its history, an anecdote about the past, what the future plans are for it, or even it's reopened again as a pub - it has been known to happen.
