Charlie Wright's International Bar, Old Street
FancyaPint?'s review...
A pub that puts together a combination of Belgian beers and Thai food doesn't sound original, yet this one manages to stand out, even in a part of town overloaded with bars. The decor is spartan to say the least - one room divided up into spaces for diners and drinkers (and dancers). It all clicks into place though: the aforementioned Mr. Wright keeps a cheery eye on proceedings and DJs keep things lively till the small hours. You'll have to part with a couple of quid to get in after 10pm at weekends (but it is open until 4:00am), but that sounds fair enough to us. The pub-club hybrid isn't always a winner but this one does it as well as any other.
