City Tavern, Bank
FancyaPint?'s review...
Newly reopened and still smelling strongly of paint, it's easy to see that the new version of the City Tavern is a vast improvement on the old place. Three ales on tap, all Greene King, with the American Blue Moon ale in bottles and a brief but comprehensive wine list (as well as inexpensive). Slightly gastro menu, but some old standards as well - and nothing that will break the bank. We'll have to try it next time we're in the area. Squarely aimed at City workers, it's obviously doing the job judging from the full seats when we went in at lunchtime recently. Efficient staff and plenty of seating - there's even a roof terrace now - make it a pleasure to go in. We'd guess it's going to get busy at the usual times - it always used to be heaving when we went in after work. Have to commend them on a job well done.

Friendly and eficient staff. Refurb on the 2 floors has seen the back of the shabby but clean decor and the money has obviously had an effect on the clientel. Mostly City types but a reasonable mix if people and no longer a mostly male boozer. The manager was really helpful. Wine list is short but gr8 value and is the food. Ales are well kept but the choice is limited as it is Green King
