The Clare Inn is an Irish high-street pub which looks rather quaint from the outside and appears pretty much untouched for a good 25 years on the inside. Faux wooden beams, old carpet, a dog wandering around, lots of tipsy old men and loud younger ones would be the stuff of nightmares for many trendy W3 residents. Nothing to speak of on tap, there's a strangely refreshing down-to-earth feel here, somewhat sullied by an underlying feeling that we weren't really welcome. This one hasn't changed as long as we've known it. And they wonder why old-style pubs have a poor reputation sometimes...

This place is terrifying. Whilst I appreciated the fact that the moment after closing time, the ashtrays came out the doors were locked, the smashed, red nose regulars, who had an obvious disdain for my mild essex accent, put on some charming Republican music, the chorus of which went something like, "Hers to the Real IRA". The landlord was a nice bloke. But otherwise, unless you want some throwback to an early 80's Kilburn High Road drinking experience, I'd put my head down, and keep walking.

I used to have a few beers a few years ago with the big Tony had it. Lost its appeal when he passed away " god bless him"
