Coach & Horses, Ruislip Manor
FancyaPint?'s review...
A fairly large, fairly traditional pub that has been decorated, possibly, a little bit too smartly and conventionally. There's a range of different areas to sit, ideal for couples, groups. families, pensioners, lads, smokers, nonsmokers, etc, as well as some seats out the front, and a beer garden at the rear. When we were there (mid-Saturday afternoon) one bloke inside was getting a bit lairy, ranting shock-jock-like about how the country has gone to the dogs (or, more precisely, the communists) in a fashion vaguely akin to certain of the characters in A Confederacy of Dunces or, worse. We commend both the pub staff and some of the clientele for making clear to said village idiot, after tolerating him a while, and after he had gone too far, that he should keep it down or clear off. Which he did. So, all in all, a decent place, with the standard Ember Inns food menu and some decent beer on hand pumps. If the open fires are actually put to use, we reckon this place might be at its best on a winter evening - although it does the job on a summer afternoon, too.
