Pubs next to train stations can often be failures when it comes to atmosphere, what with the commuter crowd often being their mainstay. However, this may perversely contribute part of the County's success, because on paper this pub would be write-off. With the area seemingly awash with groups of chavs, looking for anywhere to go, something to do, one could expect this to be a nightmarish pub. Happily it seems the local youf element prefer the recently 'improved' Regal club over the road, where they can sit in the converted cinema foyer literally drinking behind bars. In comparison, the County Arms holds a diverse mix of young and old in this no-nonsense local's pub. Chingford's track record on pubs isn't exactly great, but with a handsome three-pint rating, good beer and a great jukebox, the County Arms is currently the best pub in this large, barren area.
