Not too long ago Lordship Lane was home to a range of pubs - some upmarket, some scuzzy and some in between. That's no longer the case and the relentless gastrofication of those pubs means finding somewhere in the area for a couple of drinks - as compared to somewhere for an expensive meal - isn't as easy as it once was. The Crystal Palace Tavern though, fits the bill. Its classic pub interior may belie the peeling paint of the exterior but this one's certainly a welcoming spot for a few jars. In other parts of town you might not even bat an eyelid at this one; down in SE22 though, such a normal boozer is fast approaching extinction. A good pub in an area that needs them, so give it a look if you get the chance.
