De Hems, Soho
FancyaPint?'s review...
De Hems is a popular pub for people to meet when out for a night on the town. Named after a Dutch sailor, who bought the place in the late 19th Century, it wavered in our affections after a change of ownership diluted the unique Dutchness on offer here a while ago. However, thankfully, the company in charge saw sense and quickly returned the pub to a format of continental beers - as well as Cask Marque ales - accompanied by a Low Countries menu (Bitterballen, Frikandel etc). Always one of the most popular pubs in Soho and especially if the Netherlands national team is on the telly, the ground floor bar quickly becomes standing room only. So, we'd advise getting here early or take a look upstairs, if you're anxious to find space for you and your friends.

We were in shock with service!!! It was low level!!! Barman couldn't manage the situation, then manager came OVER and done worse!!! He couldn't understand that foot was bad, he just said, that we have to leave the place!!! We were 10 people - we gave them around £100 bill, but they get stuck with £3 nachos plate :) they didn't recover or gave us money back about non-happy food!!! We couldn't believe what we are hearing!!! We are from 26 to 32 years old men / girls and this was the first time that we had this kind of treatment !!! We are not coming back!!! EVER!!!

How to find the De Hems pub
It's on the short road that joins Shaftesbury Avenue to the middle of Gerard Street. It's near the Soho Curzon Cinema. If you can see pagoda shaped phone boxes you're not far away.
