Denmark Arms, East Ham
FancyaPint?'s review...
Growing lengthy beards and colouring maps of the world pink, those Victorian chaps were also rather adept at building stunning town halls. Newham's is as grand as any but if you cast a glance across the road you'll find a pub of a similar vintage. With both a dramatic exterior and an interior rich in elaborate tiling and friezes, this one bodes well. Alas, a fine interior doesn't always equate to a fine pub. It fulfills the need of its regulars but our hastily poured Guinness suggested newcomers aren't greatly encouraged. Still, this one had a steady crowd when we looked in and probably more punters were due for their forthcoming fancy dress party night. Sadly, this one didn't win us over.
