Devonshire Arms, Kensington
FancyaPint?'s review...
We've not been back to this one for quite a while - it's a little off the beaten track and, to be honest, we forget it's there sometimes. The clientele obviously don't as they'd happily filled up the garden on a warm and sunny afternoon when we were last in. The beer selection kept to Cask Marque standards will keep most ale-pundits happy and it changes regularly. Interior-wise, it's darker than we remember and quite eclectic, ranging from butcher-block tables to a stag's head in a corner to a red velvet covered booth in one corner. Food on the menu is more gastro-oriented, which is no surprise considering where it is (the Veuve Cliquot umbrellas on the patio underline this), but we quite fancied the pork belly - it made us salivate just to think about! This one is one to seek out for a pleasant afternoon, although we understand it gets very busy in the evenings towards the end of the week, just proving its popularity.
