Dickens Tavern, Lancaster Gate
FancyaPint?'s review...
If you're a tourist bedded up in one of the numerous B&Bs around Paddington and this is the first pub you encounter, you must be left wondering what all the fuss about English pubs is. The claims of being the the 'longest pub in London' may or may not be correct (a fashionable SW1 bar claims the overall crown), but it gives you an idea of the shape - long and thin. As such, it seems perpetually and indefinably gloomy inside and coupled with the generic lazy chain-style decor, is one of the less attractive propositions in the Paddington catchment. It does however receive a (mediocre) two pint rating as its not necessarily awful here, there's some ale on tap and service is efficient enough.
