Dog House, Kennington
FancyaPint?'s review...
Despite the odd name, the Dog House affords a more traditional pub-like experience than one would initially expect. That's not to say there aren't some alternative, if not downright eccentric, touches - with carpet lining the sides of the bar, we couldn't claim otherwise - but compared to the nearby gastropubs and fading boozers it feels refreshingly normal here. Its positioning on Kennington Cross, coupled with the large windows and a fair amount of outside seating, offers a fine vantage point for a spot of people watching. Inside it's not too bad either, with two separate bars, a couple of ales and decent, reasonably priced pub grub. Overall, this is a pub that feels comfortable in its skin and is just the thing if you fancy a couple of lazy drinks in pleasant surroundings.
