Dolphin Tavern, Holborn
The Dolphin is a decent, but rather tiny, pub tucked slightly out of the way in Holborn, it is but a step from the far more wholesome - and thoroughly wonderful and wonderfully unique - Conway Hall, home of the Ethical Society in Red Lion Square since 1929. It's a nice contrast in a way: you can be assured while the Socialist Workers Party are discussing rising working class militancy in Conway Hall, the working class are actually enjoying a well-earned pint in the Dolphin. It gets packed at times, but it's only a little place, so that's to be expected. The beer is well kept, and there's usually a couple of real ales on (Pride and Young's when we were last there). The service was very prompt and friendly too. Not a bad little place by any means.

How to find the Dolphin Tavern pub
Turn right out of Holborn Tube and walk east along High Holborn towards the city. Red Lion street is the first road you come to on your left. Walk up Red Lion Street a few hundred yards and it's on your left.
