Duke Of Edinburgh, Wood Green
FancyaPint?'s review...
The Duke Of Edinburgh is arguably Wood Green's 'lost' pub and certainly one we missed in our years of reviewing. Considering the poor choice found in N22 and the fact that it has recently received a makeover, now is probably a good time to redress this. Out of sight around the back of Wood Green Shopping City, this is an old Victorian pub which has been in a slow decline for a number of years. Now instead the interior is clean and comfortable, decorated in a bright and contemporary fashion, but not jarringly so. Generic lager is all you'll find on the pumps, while a big screen for footy and a pool table make up the entertainment. Our Sunday night visit found two small groups of younger locals in place and it was consequently pretty quiet. Its certainly brave to invest in a local's pub in such an inauspicious location and we hope they make a success of it. We'll be back again to see how they're faring.
