Duke of Kent, Ealing
FancyaPint?'s review...
Suburban barns are often difficult to make profitable, and even harder to make civilised at the same time. This Fullers' pub has cracked it. The interior has been modernised, and despite a few tacky touches, the overall effect is pleasant. The bar feels roomy rather than empty, and the huge garden replete with patio heaters is a delight in summer. It has a decent range of beers and Antipodean staff who are (shocka) friendly, polite, and who know how to pull a pint. The place does food, some really quite good, some even a bit pricey, but has managed to avoid turning into a wanky gastropub at the same time. A little gem in darkest suburbia.

How to find the Duke of Kent pub
From Ealing Broadway station, numerous buses stop right opposite the pub - the E2, E7, E9, E10 and 297. If you walk it, it's about 20-25 minutes walk and you'd be best off with a map.<br>Alternatively, there are infrequent mainline services from Paddington to Castlebar Park station. From the station pass back under the railway line into Hathaway Gardens and continue to the T-junction, turn left into Claremont Road, and at the next T-junction right into Vallis Way. Go straight ahead at the roundabout and you're on Scotch Common, and the Duke of Kent is about 200m along on the left hand side.
