A no frills locals' boozer that's had a gastro makeover. Despite that, the same clientele from the old pub are still propping up the bar. The clash of punters and environs makes for a slightly odd drinking experience. If it proves too much for you, there's better to be had nearby.

Gentrification is creeping up Ladbroke Grove - even the old Ion Bar under the Westway is now a Sainsbury's. The previous incarnation of the EP saw an uneasy compromise between a local and a food pub. Now it has gone the whole hog to a single-bar gastropub, happily retaining proper beer (Wandle and Doom Bar on our visit).

Re-named the Portobello House, it is NOT in Notting Hill, nor anywhere near Westbourne Grove (editors please note) - nearest Tube is Ladbroke Grove.

Zero rating is purely temporary, pending a full Review from someone competent.
