From the outside, its hard not to be impressed by this grand Fuller's pub. Inside, too, the leaded glass windows, wood panels and open fire all help create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Happily, there's also an equally excellent range of Fuller's ales, as well as a reasonable Thai menu. For entertainment football is shown on a large screen, but due to the size and shape of the place, if you're not interested, you don't have to endure it. Our visits have found the service to be generally good, having never waited long to get served by the friendly enough. North Finchley doesn't have great choice of pubs, so the Elephant Inn is a welcome relief as almost certainly the best place in the area.

A rarity in this stretch of north London - a long-standing Fuller's 'local'! Pleasant atmosphere and decent Thai food; every time I've been here, the beer has been in good condition.

How to find the Elephant Inn pub

Come out of West Finchley tube station, turn right, keep walking straight until you come to a mini-roundabout, walk up the hill and turn left. The Elephant is next to Waitrose on Ballards lane. Alternatively, four buses stop outside.
