Despite its unprepossessing exterior, the Elm Park Tavern is a comfortably shabby local boozer with a welcoming atmosphere. Tucked away on a quiet corner among Brixton Hill's myriad Victorian terraces, the clientele is composed almost entirely of locals and it's rare that you won't find a seat, even during the raucous Thursday night quiz which is as close as this pub gets to being packed out. They show footy on the tellys scattered around the place. The bar has a small range of both lager and bitter on tap, and service is friendly and unhurried. No food is served, although having a takeaway delivered to your table seems to be a popular alternative. It's worth a visit just to check out the love seat settees in the main bar - fantastic!
