Any pub that has pulled a pint for Nick Cave can't be doing much wrong. A short stagger to Angel tube, Filthy MacNasty's is a bit of a hidden gem in the cesspit of Islington theme and chain bars. Offering a cracking range of whiskies, as well as the ubiquitous Guinness, MacNasty's offers welcome relief from the cold winter evenings with a homely red interior (well, homely if you reside in a bordello), comfy chairs, slouchy sofas you'll want to nod off on, and in summer its got plenty of outside tables for you to enjoy your pint. A range of pub grub is available during the week, and roasts on Sundays keep you well fed. A lively events programme offers gigs, DJ nights and book launches, readings and even the odd poetry slam down.
