Flanagans of Battersea, Battersea
FancyaPint?'s review...
Considering where this is, we were unsure what this pub was going to be like. The answer? Pretty good, actually. Locals and bar staff alike were friendly and charming and one can easily imagine spending a good, lively evening in here. It was a bit quiet when we were in last, so the tellies seemed to dominate the place a bit, but the fire places, green velvet curtains and the dark wood invites one to be comfortable - there is even a leafy patio area to accommodate warmer days. The food looked pretty good too, with a fairly obvious Irish influence and at prices which were entirely reasonable. Surprisingly for a pub with Irish leanings, they had Flowers IPA on the taps alongside the lager and Guinness - and very nice it was, too. Weekends finds a quieter, local crowd in situ and overall this is one of the better pubs around Battersea Park Station.

A really nice and genuine Irish pub frequented by local people. An excellent pint of guinness, proper wood panelling and not an ounce of pretension make for a refreshing change in this area of London. I look forwards to spending the summer surrounded by ivy in the beer garden now that it's my new local!
