The George is the gathering spot for local sports fans. Instead of a menu on the chalk board, it lists upcoming matches. It's far enough down the hill from Hampstead to escape the upscale snobbery - this is a working class pub. It's quite large as pubs go, and has two large screens so every table has a good view of the match. It's the kind of place where everyone knows everyone else: the barstaff welcome the regulars by name, remember their favourite drinks, and start pulling their pints before they take off their jackets. It's a short walk from the Royal Free Hospital so watch out for crutches.
