Gipsy Hill Tavern, Norwood
FancyaPint?'s review...
A spacious, high-ceilinged place, whose target audience of wannabe-cool young professionals is painfully obvious. At some point in the near past, the sofas, table football and pastiches of classical paintings may have seemed quite modern; now, with poetic justice, they are sadly unfashionable. Furnishings are also in a slightly poor state of repair - sofas are torn, walls are grimy, the odd wire hangs from somewhere it shouldn't. Drinks are mostly of the session-beer or premium lager variety - regardless of your taste, this is not somewhere you would frequent for the beverages. On the positive side, there were plenty of people around, and it was friendly enough. However, there doesn't seem to be much point to this establishment - there are certainly decent traditional pubs in the area, and customers who prefer more fashionable surroundings can almost certainly find a better bar.
