Gloucester, Knightsbridge
FancyaPint?'s review...
Surprisingly for its location, the Gloucester is still just a pub. We're sure the temptation was there just to gut the place and turn it into A. N. Other bar, but this temptation has been resisted. There have been some small moves to modernise it and it now offers a more modern selection - Staropramen and Leffe are on the bar now alongside the real ales, including Bombardier, Green King's IPA and Pride being on when we were in last. The menu's good, too, if a bit predictable, but then they're only meeting their customer's demands, no doubt. There are a few cosy corners and there's another whole bar upstairs (which is available for hire). The Gloucester is very close to all those upmarket boutiques, and is no doubt a haven for the husbands/boyfriends/sugar daddies, if not for the shoppers themselves. Amidst all the glitz and glamour it's a genuine oasis in a shopping desert.
