Massive pub just outside the Stratford Centre provides a safe haven during the day, but undoubtedly becomes a heaving mess on Friday and Saturday nights due to cheap booze. Cloned from the Wetherspoon mould it has comfy sofas, inexpensive pub food and a small selection of well-kept beer. After having an inexpensive pint of the Black Sheep, we could see why its popular with the older crowd (and not so old) during the day.

On leaving the tube, it's probably easiest to cut through the Stratford Centre across the road. Go straight through and you should come out by McDonald's. Turn right past KFC and it's 150 metres up on the left.
