Handy for the Electric Cinema, the Ground Floor Bar place was one of the earliest pubs round here to get the 21st Century pub/bar treatment; bohemian shabby-chic, cool vibe etc. It's been a few years since that transformation and not a lot has been done to it since. The upstairs room is still a restaurant - offering a somewhat pricey menu, downstairs the bar superficially looks much the same as ever did, but a closer inspection reveals the place to be looking somewhat ragged round the edges, with the look tending to be more grubby, than shabby nowadays. The service is pleasant enough, the drink and food OK, but it's nothing exceptional and it's still quite expensive. It looks to us the Ground Floor Bar could do with bit of an overhaul to bring it up to scratch, but its prime location on Portobello Road means this place doesn't have to try too hard to attract custom - we're not expecting anything very soon.
