The Hope is a small, popular, traditional pub located just off Tottenham Court Road. It's a bare-boards sort of pub and a bit grubby with it, but it's heart's in the right place. Serving real ales, it's a handy spot for people who work in the area (mostly media types) who want good, honest beer and unpretentious pub grub (we like the sausage of the week). There are a couple of flat screen TVs for the big matches, free WiFi and a bar/function room upstairs that does stand-up comedy on Tuesdays. It's a friendly place - everyone seems to know the bar staff - and it's very popular, so arrive early if you plan to meet here, especially towards the end of the week. The Hope's scruffiness might not be everyone's cup of tea (especially the loos), but it's a welcome antidote to the antiseptic refurbishments that abound in the West End.

Decent pint and efficient bar staff. However we had to leave because the noise levels inside made talking impossible. Piped music made it worse but there must be something about the internal acoustics which meant everyone had to talk louder and louder to compete with each other. It was an unpleasant experience.

The Hope has changed hands. its now modern, clean and well stocked, gone are the minging toilets, dartboards and old staff. In is a new selection of beers , wines and great pub grub. 2 60" screen show most sports but with a tendancy to show Rugby, Rugby League and American Football ahead of football, ... very very busy on thursday, friday nights, but with the new awings there is room for loads more folk outside undercover! the upstairs restaurant/function room is now clean, new and a space for small parties or lunch with a group.The Hope is now definatly the place to be in Fitzrovia!
