Hops!, Strand
FancyaPint?'s review...
The overuse of exclamation marks is a common failing in modern English usage and there should be no exceptions when it comes to naming a bar. Unwarranted over-enthusiasm aside, this is an odd little place tucked in between the Strand and the south east side of Covent Garden, away from the natural tourist routes. There's drinks offers galore, a large footy screen and a pool table to keep you occupied, while the decor is best described as functional. Not one to go crazy about, it seems to be less busy than others in the area and is consequently worth seeking out if other nearby places are full to capacity.

One word : Avoid! This bar is sterile. Hops! pretends to be a sports bar by putting a few sports pictures on the wall and having a couple of well positioned TV screens. However, do not be fooled as we were. They do SHOW the football, as advertised outside, but not with any commentary. The football is accompanied by loud and cheesy R&B songs! Very distracting. When we asked for the sound on TV to be put on, we were told by an very arrogant goatee'd manager that the TV sound was only for international matches. What? How bizarre. At least the bar staff looked embarassed about it. The bar was almost empty and emptied further as we promptly left.

How to find the Hops! pub
From Covent Garden exit right onto James Street and walk through to the other side of the piazza. On the otherside you should find Tavistock Street which runs parallel. Over to the left, Hops! is on the corner of Tavistock and Burleigh.
