Recently repainted on the outside in a strong red with huge letters spelling out the name, it looks more like an American bar than a pub in London. Still stripped out on the interior, it's more trendy bar territory than pub. That said, it's got real ale on the taps, with regular guest beers and serves freshly prepared Thai food to go along with the cocktails and wine list. Not sure we'll be making it a regular stop, as the regular happy hours (with cocktail specials) suggest they're targeting another kind of drinker, i.e. the local commuters and office staff. Still, there is a hint of oasis about the place, being located on this stretch of Westminster Bridge Road - we guess you could do worse.

The Horse & Stables stands opposite Lambeth North Station, a historical pub dating back to the 18th Century. The place has changed ownership in 2013 and underwent a complete refurbishment and change of personality.

A traditional pub atmosphere with four rotating cask ales on tap and a particular taste for whiskey. Dim lights with a twist of modern and metropolitan, The Horse and Stables runs a popular youth hostel above the bar and is a buzz spot of an international fun loving crowd.

While also serving as a LOCAL for the immediate Lambeth community by hosting regular charity events, they are also home to several of Morley College's free public performances, creative writing nights, independent London musicians and amateur stage plays.
