Howl at the Moon, Hoxton
FancyaPint?'s review...
It seems there are changes are afoot at Howl at the Moon. The smell of paint was an indication of a recent refurb, which has sadly taken away a significant amount of the homely feeling this great pub once had. Walls have gone from a warm red to a colder pastel, the gantried bar has gone and the room gets noisy very quickly due to the lack of soft furnishings to absorb the sound. Other than that, it is now even more directly promoting itself as a craft beer provider, so there are plenty of bottled beers from the UK and America in the fridges. Brew Dog makes it onto the pumps, while the real ale choice has dropped to one (although the additional pumps indicates this may increase). Popular on our Tuesday night visit, we didn't feel like staying as long as we have in the past which is an indicator that making a great pub relies on more than just a good beer range. Still, a solid pub worth having a pint in.

I had to agree with reviewer's 'The exterior might appear somewhat homespun' but the exterior has just been redone and it has made a massive improvement. The bar (and prices) is as good as ever inside. Top notch.
