Now reopened as il Cicchetto, we'll have to investigate further to see what's happened to it. And get a new photo, too.

Now called Il Cicchetto and owned and run by a couple of Italian chaps, this place has a great Friday night vibe.
Live DJs from 6pm has had the punters grooving on the last 2 Friday's I've been there, even managing to pull in a hard working council bin man for a quick boogey before he had to run and catch his truck!
San Miguel, Carlsburg, Guiness on tap, cocktails and Italian type snacks on offer.

The Chequers re-opened at the beginning of 2010 and I drank in it late January. Rather small in area and not much atmosphere. Adnams normally available, plus reasonable selection of bottles and premium lagers. Passed by last Tuesday and a guy was pasting up notices outside to the effect that there would be free pizza available at half-time during England's 2010 World Cup games.

Overview

il Cicchetto (correct phonetic : /tʃikˈketto/ ) is a new style of "Italian pub" that means a combination of the famous atmosphere of the traditional English pub mixed with a fresh, buzzy and cozy Italian style.

Cicchetto means "bite food" (italian tapas) in the north of italy and "Shot of drink" in the south.

We have free Wi-Fi and on Friday you can find live music with international Djs
