A recent refit for this Lavender Hill bar has seen it reborn as a 50's-style dive spot. Only time will tell if its mixture of live bands and neon catches on, or if it just come across as an Ed's Easy Diner with the music turned up. We're keen to pop back and sample the drink selection too: this one's previous incarnation (Microbar) had a great reputation, and we're interested to see if the advance word on Ink Rooms and its mix of English and US ales stands up.

From Clapham Common: head out of the tube at the Pavement exit and turn right immediately out of the tube. Turn right at the next corner into Long Road and along the Common until you get to Cedars Road. Turn right into Cedars Road and carry on until you reach the junction with Lavender Hill and Wandsworth Road. Turn left and the bar is across the road. The 345 bus also goes there, but you need to get off when you can see the junction ahead - it goes quite a distance before it stops again.
