Kavanagh's Irish Bar, South Kensington

Diddley-dee music when we came in (then Lightning Seeds ) didn't exactly set a great scene when we came into this Oirish pub. Sadly it's a cavernous basement pub which teeters between faux-irish implausibility and acceptance, probably leaning more toward the faux side. You do get exactly what it says on the tin - the Guinness is excellent, but then it better be. If you fancy a pint of the black stuff, give it a go.

From Gloucester Road: Turn right out of the station and head down Gloucester Road. When it joins Old Brompton Road, turn left and the pub is just ahead on the left. From South Kensington: Take the Old Brompton Road exit and head down Old Brompton Road. The pub is about five minutes walk down on the right.
