For hobbyists cataloguing the different Wetherspoon types, this one is a member of the more common flat-fronted, high-street shop conversion family. It's hard to imagine why people would proactively spend the evening here, but in contrast to some others in the set, every day this branch is crowded with locals, young and old, enjoying themselves. Consequently the atmosphere is accordingly quite good. Perhaps the popularity of this branch indicates the lure of cheap beer and food is greater than the quest for ambience in Chingford. Or perhaps more realistically, the absence of any decent alternatives nearby has got something to do with it. Either way, it is, by default, the best pub in Chingford Mount.
