It's a few months, now, since the welcome revamp of the London Fields and it seems history is repeating itself. From a promising start with a much improved range of beers, decent food and a much-needed makeover, it seems things have lapsed somewhat since our first visit, post-refurb. The Old Rosie has disappeared and the ales have also vanished from the hand pumps beer leaving us with a pretty bog-standard range on tap from which to chose. It was painfully quiet on our mid-week visit, with a few locals, young and old, drifting in and out and, when we were charged £3.80 for a 330cl bottle of Magners (making it £6 a pint), perhaps we'd found one of the reasons why. We were, in our first review of the new London Fields, skeptical of its ability to replicate the success of its sister pub and it appears, sadly, as if we may have been right. There's great potential here for a jolly good pub - there are excellent ones not far away - please don't let us down.

Also need more chairs, maybe borrow some from the 'sister' pub as they have too many ;)

Super slow and moody bar staff. Give the place a miss.

This pub has now changed hands, it's now owned by the same people who run the 'to cool for school' cat and mutton on Broadway market. Consequently it's now very busy with lots of crazy hair cuts, and is the new place to be see in Hackney. Having said that it has some nice decor and some good beers so it's worth a look! cheers

How to find the London Fields pub

From Bethnal Green tube: Take the Cambridge Heath Road exit and find a bus which goes up the road toward Hackney (they mostly all do). Once the bus crosses the canal, the pub is about three streets further on on the left, next to the BP garage. Both Cambridge Heath and (unsurprisingly) London Fields train stations very close.
