Lord Palmerston, Archway
FancyaPint?'s review...
This is a full-on gastropub, but one that blends in seamlessly with the large Victorian houses of the area. This was an early convert of the gastro cause, so no surprises to see the spartan look of lots of natural light and solid wooden tables being much in evidence here. It's mellowed quite a bit and obviously found a niche with the locals. Decent beer on the taps, the now seemingly ubiquitous handmade scotch eggs and pies on the bar, friendly staff and an open fire for those cold days - very civilised. There's plenty of outdoor space, if you're so inclined, with a large garden and conservatory at the rear and quite a few tables between the pub and the pavement. It definitely has a place in the great scheme of things though, especially if you're after something rather less intimidating than most of the pubs in Archway.
