The Lyceum is a decent enough pub, especially given its touristy location, with the usual cheap-but-decent Sam Smith's drink selections on offer - so expect students from nearby King's College to feature amongst your fellow drinkers. It's also one where you can often find a seat (both upstairs and downstairs), even at peak times. Token homage is paid to the origins of the pub's name with the display of some theatre-related imagery around the walls, but even so, the point isn't laboured. All in all, it's a good pub for the area and easy to find, but it's not one you'd make a special journey to get to - unless you were particularly looking for a pub that doesn't have any TVs.

Visited in August. Good beer, but the food is sensational!

I last went in July of 2012 and had a perfectly fine time. I've eaten and drank their recently (both alone and with chums) and was rewarded with fine pub grub (not too expensive either, mains starting around £7 to £8) and a very fine pint of Wheat Beer. It can be fairly quiet outside of peak hours and is a lovely place to rest before a trip across the bridge to the National Theatre, for example. It has a nice old world feel and if you can get one of the discrete booths you will have a very cosy time. I highly recommend it.

Great location but beware, rude bar staff and short measures. It shouldn't be allowed in the heart of London's tourist area.

Popped in for a couple of post Xmas lunch drinks with some clients to be treated disgustingly by the red haired tattooed neck bar lady. She poured a pint (or half beer half head) then ran off to do something else without explaining what was going on. When she returned and completed the order 5 minutes later it was clear that the first pint poured was not right, all murky and when we asked for a replacement, she had her staff member sip it before shoving it back at me saying there is nothing wrong with it. I then said I could not possibly give the pint to its owner as she had now drunk from the glass, so she rudely said that I could have a glass of head and poured yet another half filled pint. The people we were with were disgusted and when the person who this half pint of head was intended went to the bar to have it topped up, he was told that if he didn’t like it that the Wellington was next door. I am not the kind of person to complain, but the shock of being spoken to in such a rude way when we were spending a substantial amount of money with them would make you believe that polite customer service was not too much to expect.

Went in for the first time last Saturday night, Bank Holiday weekend packed to bursting. Staff found us a table for eight, and service was prompt at the upstairs bar. Sam Smiths was it's usual quality and price and as we had several cider heads umongst us they were happy with the range available and not the usual **ss water on sale in most London pubs. Food was reasonably priced, arrived without delay and was hot. Spent the whole night in there. Yes nothing to make a pilgrimage, but a good pub with a lively atmosphere.
