Drinking opportunities around Elephant & Castle are rather slim, and for the fainthearted this one's probably your safest bet. Lye Torng has a independent, studenty, feel which makes for a refreshing change in a world of relentlessly styled bars. A separate dining space at the back, but there's a pool table and a generous amount of room if you're just meeting up for a drink. Can't vouch for the Thai food, but we'll be back soon to give it a go.

How to find the Lye Torng Thai Bar pub
From Elephant and Castle: From the tube station, take exit 10 - that will take you onto St. George's Road, heading for Westminster/Waterloo. The pub is about a few minutes walk, and will be on your left.
