A solid, traditional affair that's being serving up Shepherd Neame brews for a good few years now. Don't come here expecting ahead-of-the-curve pub thinking, but if what you're after is somewhere that sticks to the basics, then give it a look. It's not the largest of pubs, and what with the offices of UNISON just across the road, it's rarely without customers. And one other thing: the titular Mabel is - allegedly - an ex-landlady who is said to haunt the pub (whether she still collects empties is not recorded).

Good selection of real ale, with decent mulled wine in the winter. Shows the football too. Rather cosy but ample seating inside and also tables outside. Friendly staff.
