Marquis of Granby, Fitzrovia
FancyaPint?'s review...
The Marquis of Granby is a pretty ordinary boozer, nowadays. It serves a decent, but limited (thanks to the size of the pub) range of beers on hand pump and tap, complemented by a decent enough range of wines plus a standard West End pub menu, it's a bog-standard Nicholson's pub. It would be a handy place to meet up after work, after shopping, or before going out - if only the rest of London hadn't had the same idea. It doesn't seem to matter what the weather's like, there always appears to be a mass of drinkers on the pavement, occasionally spilling out onto the road, drinking, conversing, shouting and generally demonstrating they're having a good time. Ironically, if the weather is good, there's often a good chance of getting a seat inside, unfortunately this advantage, is often negated by the volume of the PA cranking out modern tunes presumably for the benefit of the pavement punters. Prices are West End typical too, so no surprises there. Not a great pub for the aficionados, but a nice little earner for M&B.
