Marquis of Granby, Leicester Square
FancyaPint?'s review...
We've known this pub for years, and have always had a bit of a soft spot for it after many an afternoon or evening spent here. Still enjoying the benefits of a refit a couple of years back, The Marquis has a smart feel, its decor evoking theatrical times past with a selection of memorabilia (drapes, old opera programmes etc.). Although, with an interior not too dissimilar to many a gastropub, you might expect the menu to be upgraded too, but you'd be wrong. On our last visit, the bar menu merely consisted of a list of quality sandwiches. The beer selection was decent enough and things are clearly governed over by a landlord of the old school. It is worth noting as well that this one fills up for the football and the rugby - it may not be what the tourists are after, but it does make a change for the area. All in all, the pick of the pubs around Cambridge Circus.

Brought my girlfriend and her mum here before a theatre whioch I wouldn't have done if we'd been in fear of our lives like the previous reviewer. That comment is repeated on most sites with review options for this pub. Dry yyour eyes mate...
As the "FaP?" review states, this is deinitely the landlord's pub. OK food, good location, his choice of sports on the telly & good Guinness/ales.
