With Spoofers, the ersatz sports bar now dead and buried, a new bar - Metro - has popped up in its place. Ignoring images of free newspapers, first impressions of this two-roomed pub (run by the Faucet Inn group - a name which gets unfunnier every time we hear it) were OK. The front area has a few couches and other modernist touches dotted about, but still feels like a pub. Pleasant and clean, with a basic food menu, you could have a quick pint with no hesitation. Conversely, the back room was gloomy; dominated by a 42' TV, it was reminiscent of a small working men's function room. On our weekday visit the customers were predominately older men. However, due to its proximity to Metropolitan University and the NUS discounts they offer, we assume they're looking for a younger crowd. Whether they achieve this goal remains to be seen.
