Reunited with the bar next door at the last refurb, they created a larger pub, making the place a more sensible proposition. With its accommodation, bedrooms and lunchtime food the place is geared towards the tourist end of the spectrum and the hordes of tourists on hand mean that at the predictable times (i.e. summer weekends) it's not really one for a quiet, contemplative pint. It is, however, much quieter during the week and this is when it comes into its own. There are four real ales on the hand pumps with plenty of other things on offer if beer's not your tipple, there's plenty of decent ordinary grub and with News 24 on the small screens and At the Races on the big screen, the Mitre caters for most tastes. If it wasn't for the weekend invasion, we'd be in here a lot more often.

Apart from the music which is too loud when the bar staff are in the mood, this is an ok greenwich boozer. Its comfortable and the clients a bit more pleasant than the bars nearer the station. Miles better than The Auctioneers and Belushis.

An o.k. place to step out of the Greenwich crowds and have a pint. The selection is not bad, but the service is a bit slow and less than friendly. On a weekend, the screens at the rear of the pub are filled with football, with the usual noisy types crowded around. The front of the pub is more pleasant, but usually filled. I prefer the very nice side garden patio with views of the namesake church. The patio is a pleasant place to spend an afternoon. I've not tried the food. The bathrooms are downstairs, down a steep flight of narrow stairs; but, once reached, may not be as bad as the other review would have it. All in all, an acceptable pub for the lower reaches of Greenwich town.

How to find the Mitre pub

There are two exits from Cutty Sark DLR station, which makes giving directions tricky. If you can see the Cutty Sark when you exit, turn right and walk up Greenwich Church Street, if you can't, cross the road in front of you (Creek Road). Follow Greenwich Church Street around the corner (against the flow of traffic) the pub is just a little further round the corner on the left, past the church.
