Odd place this. On the one hand, you have a wood-beamed building you might expect to find in Rainham village, Essex mock-Tudor and so on. But the pub itself seems to have a minor identity crisis. Armchairs and a sofa nestle against a piano which has a sentimental songbook on it, suggesting cosy evenings and a few sentimental favourites. The bar, though, has metal stools straight out of a Babycham commercial and no real ale. It's OK for a pint or two but nothing here's likely to make you linger, unless the 'Small People's Party' kids' disco appeals.
