An otherwise unremarkable pub can suddenly take on a new appearance when it, by default, becomes the best place to drink in an otherwise barren area. Ultimately doing nothing wrong, it's a large open pub, with a raised seating area to one side. It's never totally full, nor empty, serves average but perfectly edible food, has a reasonable beer selection, and a large screen showing the usual football fixtures. Basically, it's a comfortable place for the locals, or those who have come down to visit the wonders of, er, Finchley Road.

I pop into this place every few weeks. There's four cask beer taps and one for cider. They've usually got at least two beers on. The beer itself is properly kept and usually properly poured. It's a big space inside with loads of tables. There's a reasonably sized beer garden out the back for smokers - there's even a TV out there. The pub shows a decent variety of sport and the staff are pretty accomodating to channel changes for specific events. The food is also pretty fair. Prices are very reasonable too. The manager and his wife are pleasant and they choose their staff well.

What does let the place down is the gent's toilets - they are sorely in need of an overhaul and they smell. If it wasn't for this - this pub would be 4/5.

Downstairs smells of urine and unhappiness, upstairs smells of old cigarettes and damp. The whole place looks like it's about to fall down. Moldering, desperate and unwelcoming. Avoid.
